Hello all! Newcomers and old-timers alike, welcome to my Delectable Garden Blog!

If you are new here, you may be wondering why I would call my world-class gardening website such a strange thing… delectable? Gardening isn’t delectable! Not unless you’re one of those strange people who grows a garden for sustenance instead of pure aesthetic delight!

But you see, dearest reader, this website is delectable! We have only the finest gardening content you could ever dream of, from wide-ranging exposés on the fast-flower industry, to a comprehensive takedown of thornless roses – what use is a rose if it isn’t occasionally letting your blood? Damned new-age hippies, taking over the flower movement!

Whoops, sorry. I always get carried away when we’re talking about thornless roses and how to grow them. It’s somewhat of a sticking point!

(Hold for applause).

Well, this week, I have something positively delightful that I’d like to share with you all – a brand new variety of flower that I’ve never tackled before. Hippeastrums! I know! I don’t know how I’ve avoided them for so long either! They’re such a practical, hardy plant, suitable for all across Australia! Such spectacular flowers, too. Nothing stops a garden like a hippeastrum.

Well, except maybe a bee.

I’ve been working on a growing guide for hippeastrums over the past couple of months, perfecting my methods and techniques to always ensure the best possible plant outcome. My poor husband has heard me prattling away about planting techniques and fertiliser ratios for weeks and weeks, bless him! But, I think it might almost, finally, maybe be ready!
