Once Jackie and I had finished loading everybody into the time truck for time reconditioning, we headed back into the conveyancing building. Fortunately, the conveyancing firm had gotten our target’s phone number, so I sat at the reception desk and gave it a ring. The young man we were hunting didn’t pick up the phone, so I left a message saying that the business had changed their mind and thought they could definitely help him with the legal side of buying a house. I also mentioned that we were willing to make some… loopholes to circumvent any issues, such as not having proper identification. Given the man is a time traveller, it’s unlikely he has any legitimate ID from this time period.

Pretending to work in property conveyancing was pretty fun if I’m being honest. Jackie thinks I got a bit carried away with the whole thing, but he takes this job way too seriously. It’s not like we’re trying to stop the end of the world or anything. We’re just trying to stop this young man from creating a time paradox. Hopefully he takes the bait and calls us back, hoping we can help him with his house hunt. Then we’ll lure him back to the office and capture him, and return to our boss for assessment.

Where was it that the little punk wanted to buy a house again? Malvern? Yeah, I’d better tell him that I can help with conveyancing close to Malvern. I didn’t mention a specific suburb in the voice message. I probably should have written it down, but I’m pretty sure the receptionist said Malvern. Or was it Highett? Uh oh, I really don’t remember. Maybe I should just keep it vague, and say the Bayside area. That’s probably the safest bet.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that the kid has already worked out that we’re hunting him, and is one step ahead of us. After all, he did manage to get away from the trap we set in the middle ages. I was so sure that would work, but he figured out that Jackie and I were disguising as knights.

We’d better practice our conveyancing skills before he calls back.
