Cats and Balustrades

May 27, 2021 - Glass

Sometimes, I start saying something and I don’t even know where it’s going. I’ll just trust that I’m going to find the words along the way. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I just stand there looking like a total idiot, scrambling for words to keep my sentence going until everyone listening has forgotten what the original point was, letting me off the hook. Occasionally, I’ll throw in a random word or two, just to further distract my audience. “Commercial glazing,” I’ll say, out of nowhere. The listener will look to their friend and ask what this talk has to do with glass installation and repairs, and their companion won’t have the slightest clue either. That’s the key to giving a good talk. Always keep your audience wondering where you’re going to go next. It keeps them engaged, even if you haven’t the slightest clue what you are talking about.

Cats. That’s right, this talk is now about cats. Weren’t expecting that, were you? You see, cats may not have anything to do with what I was talking about, but they do have everything to do with what I want to be talking about. What do I want to be talking about? Well, I’ve already hinted at it, but my true passion is glass balustrades near Melbourne because they really are just incredible. What do cats have to do with glass balustrades? More than you’d expect. See, cats love jumping on balustrades and climbing on them. We all know that. But do you know why they do this? It’s because they are actually trained acrobats. That’s right, every cat in the world is a professionally trained acrobat, and they just can’t help but balance on something like a balustrade. It’s really quite incredible.

Anyway, I hope that you learned something today. Thank you for coming to me Teddy Talk, and I hope to see you at my next one! Thank you, you’ve been a great audience!
